Chenoa Veterans Brick Walkway
Glen Jenkins, a Navy veteran of WW II came up with the idea of building
a walkway of bricks as a tribute to Chenoa area veterans and in April of 2001
veterans of the Chenoa Legion Post 234 began building the walkway of bricks
at the Chenoa cemetery.
The American Legion building had been sold and the American Legion plaque
was placed at the south end of the walkway.
At the present time there are 422 bricks in the walkway, each with the name,
rank and branch of service. There is room at the walkway for 705 bricks.
Any veteran from the Chenoa area who is interested in adding their name to
the walkway may call Leo Embry, 815-945-4111.
The cost is $35.00 and that includes the brick and engraving
On Memorial Day the avenue of flags at the cemetery, along with the flags
at the Memorial Walkway are flown. The flags at the brick walkway represents
all branches of the services, a beautiful sight to see.
